Stephen Vincent Benet

Stephen Vincent  Benét died on this date in 1943. He is most famous for his short story “The Devil and Daniel Webster” and the narrative poem “John Brown’s Body,” which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1929. You can read  Benét’s prize-winning poem here:
