Alexander Pushkin Born on This Date

Russian poet Alexander Pushkin born on this date in 1799. Pushkin is considered Russia’s greatest poet and the father of modern Russian literature. His verse novel, Eugene Onegin, was serialized between 1825 and 1832. Pushkin, who was famously sensitive about his honor, fought 29 duels during his life; eventually, he succumbed to wounds he received during a duel. You can read his poetry here:
