Samuel Taylor Coleridge born this day in 1772. Coleridge, along with his friend William Wordsworth, was one of the founders of the Romantic Movement in England. Their collection of poetry, Lyrical Ballads, is the seminal work in Romanticism. Coleridge’s contribution, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, was hugely popular.
