A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen

Henrik Ibsen’s play A Doll’s House premieres at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen, Denmark, on this date in 1879. Although the play was and is seen as a significant event in the history of women’s rights, Ibsen insisted that he wrote the play “without any conscious thought of making propaganda,” instead wishing to achieve “the description of humanity.”
