On this date in 1959, authors Carson McCullers and Isak Dinesen share a lunch of soufflé, oysters, grapes, and champagne with Marilyn Monroe and her husband, playwright Arthur Miller. After lunch, McCullers turns on the phonograph and invites Monroe and Dinesen to dance with her on the marble-topped dining room table.
